Creative Writing Summer Camp 2016

Session one: July 4 to July 15, 2016
Session Two: Aug 15 to Aug 26, 2016
Location: 3558 Erindale Station Road, Mississauga, ON
10 Days - 9:00 am to 4:00 pm (Children should pack their own lunch. )

For kids age 9 to 14

Does your child love to create stories? For this camp, your child will use all his/her imagination. We will be able to discuss character development, plot, tone and all other aspects of short stories and drama. Your child will create a play together and perform at the end of the session.

Pricing for two weeks:
Before April 1: $370
Before May 1: $390
After: $420

Daily Schedule:
9:00 am to 9:30 am Arrival and Warm-up Games
9:30 am to 12:00 pm Lesson and lecture / Writing activities / Group activities
(10:30 am quick snack time break)
12:00 pm to 1:00 pm Lunch
1:00 pm to 2:00 pm Supervised play time (May be outdoor if weather is good)
2:00 pm to 3:30 pm Lesson and lecture / Writing activities / Group activities
3:30 pm to 4:00 pm Tidy up and quiet reading/ writing time

4:00 pm is the pick up time.

Creative Writing and Playwriting Summer Camp Schedule

Instructor Bio:
Pamela Oakley is a graduate of Queen’s University in English and Drama. She has been a writer and editor for over 25 years, and wrote many sketch comedies for her university cabaret troupe. Pamela is currently a Masters student in creative non-fiction writing and is working on a book about how we feel about our food. She has been teaching at Voice K for three years, and loves every minute. Watching children embrace stories and tell their own stories is her greatest joy.

Journalism Summer Camp

Session: July 18 to July 29, 2016 (3558 Erindale Station Road, Mississauga, ON)

Voice K Little Journalist Camp will teach the essential skills your child needs to become a young leader. You will learn how to write good stories, how to interview people, how to speak like you own the stage and much more!

What's different about this year's camp?
- Each camper will get a package of goods including a T-shirt, a journalist badge, a notebook and a pen.
- The trip's transportation fee is included.
- Guest speakers will attend the camp and give journalists professional training.
- In the past year, Voice K has gained more reputation through the GTA communities. We have interviewed many events and high profile people. In this year's camp, we will be able to invite more guest speakers to talk to children and help them gain horizon.

Guest Speakers:
Depending on the location and availability of the speakers, we can not guarantee a certain speaker will attend a certain camp. However, we try to get speakers from the following industries:

Broadcasting - TV host, TV reporter, News Anchor, Radio Station Host
Print Journalism - Reporter, Editor, Managing Editor, Photographer
