There are tons of fun activities that you can do at the 2014 Hamilton Kid’s Fest. What’s special about the festival is that all the rides they have are actually bouncy or inflatable. You can explore all the different bouncy castles, visit different places like a desert, and look at unique animals such as kangaroos. You can also try to win real goldfish and stuffed animals.

“This festival took about a year to organize. It is a very big festival and has about 25 workers and volunteers,” said Kitty Milo, the executive organizer. “The hardest part of organizing this event is to keep everyone happy,” said Milo. Milo enjoys being an organizer because she loves to see the smiles on kids’ faces.

Each year, there are about 2,000-3,000 people come to the festival. The festival lasts only three days. It is always the Family Day long weekend in February . The kid’s fest started in 2008. The people who started the event are John and Gina Downes.

One game you will love is Rodeo Playground where you need to get on an inflated buffalo without falling off. The rides are inflated with big fans. As Voice K journalists, we got to bounce on inflatable rides such as Joust, Triple Bungee, and Rodeo Playground, and tons more. We also got to try doing flips while bouncing on a ride! We went on Twin Peaks which was like a rock climbing wall. You even get to pull on ropes while climbing the slippery walls of Twin Peaks! We even got to play “spin to win” and get candy and chocolate. Yum!

“The most entertaining ride we have is the big slide, you should try it!” Milo suggested.

If you jump onto the inflatable slide at the top, you will go bouncing and sliding down at the same time. Another ride you will find fun is Triple Bungee where you need to put on a lifejacket attached to a rope and run to try and take a bean bag from the sticky rail. Then you need to try and place it further. That will be difficult because the rope will stop once it reaches the end. So you need really long arms to make a new record.

“I really liked the game where I can run up to the wall and stick,” said Gavin Parkes, a young kid.

“We love the rides and the festival itself! It is a very jolly setup for kids to get their exercise,” said Luisa Penni, the mother of Gavin Parkes.

The kid’s fest is truly a wonderful playground, actually not even a playground, it is more like a children’s wonderland!

But now as we bid winter goodbye, be sure to check it out next year!
