Graduation Day. Diplomas. Gowns. Pictures. Flowers. Happy memories of friends and stressful studies. All ends with new beginnings. Voice K had showcased the new generation of future kid journalists at their personal grad ceremony. This event was held on July 23, 2013 at 6pm in the Dixie Bloor Neighbourhood Centre.
Teachers, families and the journalists were bustling with excitement in the beginning of the ceremony. A camera crew from Fairchild TV was also present ready to capture the special moment for the graduated journalists. The ceremony began with a short film of the journalists’ field trip to the Harbourfront Centre in Toronto. Next, Voice K’s Editor-in-Chief, Joanna Liu started off with an open speech to the delighted kid journalists and parents, emphasizing their hard work and dedication to journalism. After the speech, Liu began handing out each journalist’s diplomas and their contributions during their time in the program.
Then, the festivities began with balloons, games and candies. There was a lot of laughter and merriment as each journalist talked about their fun journey into pursuing journalism. There were plenty of pictures being taken with the journalists, families and teachers. Later, the ceremony concluded with food and drinks where everyone congregated with each other to reminisce. The event was a huge success as many journalists were sad to see it come to an end. A special thanks was contributed to Joanna Liu, who hosted as well as organized the event. None of this would have been possible due to her hard efforts. We hope to see many more events in the future and many more additions to the Voice K family.
